DEMOLITION DERBY CAR & TRUCK RULES GENERAL PREPERATION FOR CARS & TRUCKS
PREPARATION:

All glass, plastic, and pot metal must be removed. Nothing may remain in the bottom of the doors, trunks. All outside hardware must be removed (door handles, mirrors, chrome, molding, screw, fiber glass, etc). Front seats must be securely mounted to the floor, and must have seat belts.
All cars MUST have inner padding on driver’s door. All flammable materials inside the car must be removed except necessary safety padding and seat. All cars must have a fully charged FIRE EXTINGUISHER!!!!!!!! Fuel Pumps: Externally mounted electric fuel pumps are allowed. ON/OFF off switch must be located on the dash board so that they are easily accessible to officials.


Tires:
You may use any tire and you may tube, screw, glue, tire inside of tire, flappers, and use recaps) only Air must be used to inflate your tire. You may weld valve stem protectors. Brakes:
All cars must exhibit the ability to stop before entering the arena. If a car loses its braking ability it will be subject to disqualification.

Engines:
Any engine and transmission combination may be used in any car, but must be mounted within 4 inches of the original motor. Must be mounted securely. Holes left in the firewall from removing the dash and heater must be covered to prevent fire hazards. No holes will be allowed in the floor of the car except to accommodate the transmission shifter, fuel and transmission lines and wiring. Motor mounts may be welded; Transmission and motors may be chained or strapped with no reinforcing of the engine frame cradle. Rear ends:
Any 5 lug rear end may be used.


Securing:
Welding or bolting must be used to secure your hood and trunk. The tailgate of a station wagon will be treated as a trunk. Doors and windows: Doors may be fully welded. All EXTERIOR door seams may be welded. A protective bar may be placed inside or outside the front doors. One or two bars running from the roof down to the cowl or front dashboard bar is mandatory! On four door cars without posts you may add a chain or a bar from the top center of the doors to the roof. You may use a screen or netting over drivers side front window and drivers door only. Interior bars: All interior bars may not exceed a 2” outside diameter. End plates are MANDATORY on all bars must be welded in place or bolted. A bar behind the seat is mandatory. It must be located no more than 6” from the final resting position of your seat. An optional bar may be put in the front where the dashboard was located, in between the front door posts. All bars and posts in the proximity of the head must be padded. Welding: . All exterior hood and trunk seams may be fully welded. The tailgate of a station wagon will be treated as a trunk.

Bolting:
Instead of welding your hood and trunk you may use bolts. Chains 3/8” inch chain is allowed to secure front and rear bumpers to the frame. Only two chains may be used. No chain may be welded at any point to the frame or body.

Bumpers:
The intention of this rule is to allow you to mount the bumper in such a way that it will not fall off. Stock O.E.M. bumpers of passenger cars must be used. Bumpers may be cut so they do not smash into the tires during the event. Chrome may be welded to the inner bumper box to keep it from separating. Bumpers may be welded to the brackets and the frame only. Only One bumper bracket per frame rail may be welded to the frame. If using an Aluminum beam bumper you may weld your front straps around and to the bottom of the bumper bracket Compression bumper shock tubes may be compressed and welded.

Frame:
THERE IS NO WELDING OF OR TO THE FRAME.

Radiators & Radiator supports:
Radiators must stay close to stock position in front of the motor. (No added water capacity). Engine coolants are allowed

Transmission coolers:
Transmission coolers will be allowed. Gas Tanks:
Original gas tanks must be removed from the car!!!! You must have your gas tank securely mounted inside the car with a minimum of two fasteners, behind the driver’s seat and covered unless a fuel cell or metal tank. Seat belts or “pull” type straps may not be used. A maximum size of 6.5 gallons can be used. A marine type tank or fuel cell must be used. Fuel lines must run inside car. Battery:
Only one battery of any type may be in the car. It must be securely mounted inside the car in front of the seat and covered unless a gel cell. Air Cleaners:
You must have an air cleaner over the carburetor all times during the event. Cut outs:
Cut outs over the wheel wells are legal.


Trailer Hitches:
Trailer hitches and After Market framework must be removed

Suspension:
You must have a working suspension. (No pulling shocks and putting pipes in their place). No adding reinforcements to the suspension. No putting leaf springs on top of the axle. You may weld coil springs to the frame or axle so they do not fall out (no filler may be used). You may not clamp the shocks. No solid suspension. Overall safety will be determined by official at time of inspection.

TRUCK CLASS RULES:
Any Standard or 4x4 Truck, Suburban, Blazer, Bronco type vehicles are allowed. If you are in question please call first.
Only two wheel drive may be functioning.
Any fiberglass roofs or shells must be removed and car stripping rules will apply.
You may replace the dash with a spreader bar not to exceed 4” in diameter and a bar behind the seat.
A bar at the front of the bed is mandatory. End plates may be 6” in diameter.
Bars near the head must be padded.
Driver’s door and door posts near the driver must be padded. A door bar may be placed on the exterior of the driver’s door. All door and hood seams must be welded or bolted. For Trucks with beds: Bed must be welded to the cab to maintain the integrity of the gas tank mounting area. A 6 gallon (max) fuel cell or metal gas tank must be mounted at the front of the bed. A spreader bar with end plates should be welded in near the tank at the front of the bed to protect the tank. Tank should be covered to prevent gas from splashing in case of rupture.
A secure net is mandatory for the back window of single cab trucks to prevent whiplash. All tail gates must be fully welded. Any engine/transmission combination may be used. Front/back bumpers may NOT be switched, stock bumpers only. Bumpers may be welded to the brackets and brackets may be welded to the frame. A bar should be installed in the front window from the cowl area to the roof. All other safety items, Engines, Bumpers, gas tanks, battery, etc. will follow the rules listed in the standard derby.
Overall Safety will be determined by the officials! Race Procedure & rules
The event begins with drivers lined up with their tail lights facing each other.
Drivers are required to crash into another vehicle every 2 minutes or they are labeled as "sandbagging" and become disqualified.


Drivers are required to be at least 18 years old.

The last running car wins the event
